Whether you recently went platinum, golden or honey, it takes some work to get and maintain healthy, vibrant blonde hair and here's how we do it at our sutherland shire hair salon.

Choose the right shampoo and conditioner

At our Sutherland Shire Hair Salon, we recommend Olaplex No.4 and No.4P Shampoo and Olaplex No.5 Conditioner or Evo Fabuloso Custom Colour Toning Conditioner.  These are designed specifically for maintaining and protecting your blonde colour. To avoid brassiness in your hair’s blonde, white or silver tones, use purple shampoo and purple conditioner once or twice a week. Keep hair hydrated

If you’re not a natural blonde, it generally means your hair is damaged and extremely thirsty. Nourish it daily with a weekly hair mask treatment. Our Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask or Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector repairs, strengthens, moisturises, smooths and adds body and shine to the hair cuticle.

Protect it from heat

Hot tools are especially threatening to colour-treated blonde hair. Minimise the damage with a heat protectant spray such as Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother or Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press.

Shield hair from the sun

Hats and scarves are the best immediate defense, but if hair is going to be in direct sunlight, use products with UV protection. Here's what our blonde colour specialists recommend: Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother or Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil. Pro Tip - Cocktail these two together for the ultimate protection, smooth and shine.

Keep it safe from water

Take a dip with confidence. Apply your favourite conditioner before entering a pool or the ocean to create a barrier between your hair and the salt water or chlorine. After you come out of the water, rinse your hair as soon as possible to get rid of residue. If you swim regularly and notice a buildup or a greenish tinge, use a clarifying shampoo (like Olaplex No.4C Clarifying Shampoo) to remove it.
